Add an Activity for a Future Date

Overview

You can schedule an activity for a future date so it appears as an upcoming task and reminds you to act. This is how you "trace a next step" so a Lead or Opportunity never stalls.

How to Add a Future-Dated Activity

  1. Click + New Activity
  2. Associate it to the relevant Opportunity or Lead (and Account)
  3. Enter the Activity Title and choose a Type
  4. Set the Date to the future date you want (add a Time if relevant)
  5. Leave the activity open (do not turn on the Completed toggle)
  6. Click Save

The activity now shows as an upcoming, open activity until its date arrives.

Faster: Trace a Follow-Up While You Work

When you complete an activity, use the Follow-up activity section at the bottom of the form to schedule the next one at the same time. Check Follow-up activity, set a Follow-up Type and Follow-up Date in the future, and give it a title. Matrix creates the future activity for you.

Why It Matters

Future-dated activities keep your records healthy. A Lead or Opportunity with no upcoming activity shows up under No Future Trace, and one with no recent completed activity goes Stale. Always leave a future activity traced.
