M1 Intel exists because the tools hotel sales teams were given were built for someone else. We've run hotels. We know what's broken. Matrix is what we'd want to use if we were still in the seat.
Why we built Matrix
The toolset hadn't kept up with the work.
The first version of Matrix was a spreadsheet. Then a slightly better spreadsheet. Then a custom build inside another vendor's CRM that took six months to configure and still didn't fit.
The pattern was the same across every property: hotel sales teams running on tools designed for SaaS sales motions, papered over with ad-hoc Slack channels, group resumes in someone's Outlook drafts, and a Friday-afternoon scramble to make sense of the week. Group business — by far the highest-margin segment — was the one running on the least amount of software.
Matrix is the version we kept describing to vendors and never getting back. Operator-first, sales-intelligence-first, portfolio-priced, two-week implementation. The shape of the data matches the shape of the work — because the people who designed it have done the work.

Operators build for operators.
Software designed by people who've never sold a room block reads like software designed by people who've never sold a room block. We've been the DOSM staring at a Cvent inbox at 11pm. The product reflects that.

Hotels aren't horizontal SaaS.
Generic CRMs assume a B2B sales motion that doesn't exist in hotels. Group blocks aren't deals. RFPs aren't leads. The shape of the data is different. So is the shape of Matrix.

Pricing scales with portfolio, not user seat.
Per-seat pricing punishes hotels for putting more people in the system — exactly the opposite of what good software should do. Matrix is portfolio-priced so adoption isn't gated by an admin's spreadsheet.

Two weeks, not two quarters.
If implementation takes a quarter, the product was designed wrong. Most properties are productive on Matrix in under two weeks. No schema redesign. No custom-fields rabbit hole. No Salesforce admin to hire.
